Chorley is in Lancashire in the North-West of England. The town gained its wealth in the 19th century from the Industrial Revolution, as did most Lancashire towns. Chorley was famous for its cotton and was an important producer of cotton, with a large number of mills dominating the town’s skyline. A large number of the mills were knocked down in the second half of the twentieth century. Of those that remain, a small number continue for actual manufacturing, albeit not cotton manufacturing. Some of the mills are now new business premises. Chorley was home to a number of coal pits, such was its location on Lancashire Coalfield.
As planning consultants, we work across the whole area including the main towns and villages of Duxbury Woods, Coppull, Chisnall Hall, Adlington and Euxton. The Borough of Chorley has 20 electoral wards managed by 47 councillors.
