Having recently purchased an attractive property in the Conservation Area, our clients wished to extend the house at the rear to create additional first floor bedroom accommodation. The property was one of a row of similar properties in the conservation area, all built at a similar time. Over time, many of the neighbouring properties had added single storey extensions at the rear, however none of the neighbours had ever extended at first floor level, meaning that there was no precedent for this type of extension.
A complimentary two storey extension, which was in keeping with the character of the host dwelling and which maintained the leafy character and appearance of the Conservation Area, and successfully gained planning permission for the two storey extension to the property following negotiation with the Council during the planning application process.
